How to safely use your HyperX products

Spending a lot of time on the computer can lead to physical discomfort or injury. Repetitively overusing your joints can cause soreness, swelling, pain, and loss of motion, which can increase the likelihood of nerve, muscle, and tendon injuries to the hands, wrists, arms, back, and other parts of the body. These injuries have been connected to musculoskeletal disorders, including carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis, and other conditions. Health and safety tips for comfortable and optimal use of your HyperX product include:

Maintain good posture. Adjust your chair, desk, and equipment setup so you can sit in a comfortable, upright position with your lower back supported. While gaming, try to posture your body so that your upper arms fall naturally at your sides, shoulders are level and relaxed, and feet are well supported on the floor. If your feet do not comfortably reach the floor, adjust the seat height or use a footrest. Remove unneeded items from under your desk for greater leg space. Try not to bend your neck or tense your shoulders while you game.

Avoid wrist strain. Center your keyboard directly in front of you at about elbow level. Try to avoid bending, tilting, twisting, and overextending your wrists. If necessary, readjust the keyboard legs so your wrists can remain straight and relaxed while you play. Avoid planting your wrists on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Use a relaxed grip and your whole arm to move your mouse.

Avoid hand/finger strain. Typing with relaxed fingers and a light touch can lessen the risk of injury caused by repetitive, low-impact exertions. Keep frequently used items within easy reach. Reprogramming the keys on your keyboard to suit your personal play style can minimize the need to repeatedly overstretch your fingers and joints.

Avoid eye strain. Viewing your monitor for extended periods of time can cause eye strain and other visual complications. Give your eyes quick and frequent breaks by looking away from the computer and focusing your vision on an object at least 20 feet away. To further minimize eye strain, position your monitor about an arm’s length away from you and adjust the height so the top of your screen is approximately eye level. Calibrate the brightness and contrast settings to match your preferences.

Take frequent breaks. Varying your activities can reduce the likelihood of developing injuries associated with prolonged computer use. Get up every so often to stretch your arms, wrists, shoulders, neck, and back.
