ESL Katowice Royale hosted 200 Fortnite professional players and influencers in an epic esports battle to claim a chunk of the meaty prize pool that was up for grabs. Split into two tournaments, the Polish and International competitions took place over two weekends of battle royale action. The Polish Edition took place February 22-24, and saw Poland's budding esports athletes go head-to-head over seven games of Solos and Duos for a prize pool of $100,000 USD. A week later, the International Edition followed on March 1-3 and brought esports organizations worldwide to Katowice, each side eager to secure a part of the impressive $500,000 USD prize pool.

Split between Solo and Duo events, competitors battled over seven Solos games on Friday March 1, before competing in two days of Duos matches on Saturday and Sunday. The lion's share of the prize pot was contained in the weekend's Duos event, with a total of $400,000 at stake. The winning team of Ghost Saf and NRG Zayt took home $80,000, along with their earnings from the Solo portion of the event. HyperX sponsored side Natus Vincere brought two competitors to the field, with Navi Bowman and Navi Alpha duking it out in the International Edition. The event received over five million views, with viewership of the final Duos match peaking at over 300,000 concurrent viewers.
